Have a great summer!

The days of school are getting shorter.  Graduation will be here before you know it.  1st, 3rd, & 5th grades are all going to be in the Talent Show on April 13th.  There are going to be a lot of cute skits!!

5th grade did SUPER at the Music Enrichment Day!!  It was a great experience for them to get to hear other schools sing, and they even got to hear a band play!  You will get to hear their songs at the Talent Show.

3rd grade will be doing the "Wells Fargo Wagon" for you and 1st grade will be doing "The Bare Necessities" from the Jungle Book.

4th grade is reviewing Families of Instruments.  There are four families of instruments:  string, brass, woodwind, and percussion.  String instruments are played with a bow.  Brass and woodwind instruments are played by blowing plus the woodwind has a reed.  Percussion instruments are either struck, shaken, or hit with a mallet.  This is the drum family.  There are more than fourteen percussion instruments and only five or six brass instruments.

8A just finished watching the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers."  I think they found it interesting.  They will start a unit on Romantic music next.

8B is watching the musical "The King and I" with Yul Brenner.  It's very exciting and I am asking them to know at least 3 songs from it.

2nd grade is also watching "The King and I."  They are watching the animated version, and they love it.

1st grade just finished watching "Peter and the Wolf."

6th grade is learning songs from "Oliver." They like "Food Glorious Food" and "Consider Yourself."  They also want to learn "The Fourth Man."  It's the story about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the fiery furnace.

Beginning band is starting to wind up for another year.  They are on pages 18-20 right now.

With God’s blessings,

Mrs. Coffelt
